Το ιστορικό αρχείο της πόλης της, κατατάσσει το Ξενοδοχείο CECIL στο κέντρο της Σπάρτης από το 1937, με αρχικό όνομα ʺΛεωνίδαςʺ. Πρωτοποριακή πρωτοβουλία για τη τότε  ξενοδοχειακή δομή της πόλης, από τον πρώτο του ιδιοκτήτη Κωνσταντίνου Τζανετάκη. Σήμερα οι ιδιοκτήτες, το ζεύγος Ιων.&Αικ. Κατράνη, τρίτη γενιά της οικογενείας, έχουν να διηγούνται πολλές ιστορίες. Κατά τη διάρκεια του Β’ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου το Ξενοδοχείο είχε επιταχθεί στην αρχή από τους Ιταλούς και στη συνέχεια από τους Γερμανούς και χρησιμοποιείτο ως Κέντρο Επικοινωνίας, αφού είχαν εγκαταστήσει τους ασυρμάτους τους. Ξεχωριστή ιστορία αποτελεί η παραμονή του ζωγράφου-καλλιτέχνη Βαγγέλη Μαυρικάκη, μαθητή του Φώτη Κόντογλου, αγιογράφου πολλών ναών της πόλης, όπως του Πολιούχου της πόλης Οσίου Νίκωνος, ο οποίος είχε ζήτησει και έλαβε την άδεια να χρησιμοποιεί, χώρο του Ξενοδοχείου για να σχεδιάζει. Το Ξενοδοχείο CECIL αποτελεί κομμάτι της ζωντανής ιστορίας της πόλης της Σπάρτης και με αυτοσεβασμό και συνεπώς με ετεροσεβασμό στον επισκέπτη συνεχίζει την ιστορία στη ποιοτική φιλοξενία.



  

Hotel Cecil is found in the historical archive of the city since 1937 when it was initially named “Leonidas”. It constituted a pioneering initiative of its first owner, Konstantinos Janetakis, given the city hotel structure of that time. The present owners, Ioannis and Aikaterini Katrani, third generation of the family, have plenty of stories to tell. During World War II, the Hotel had been commandeered and used as a Communication Center first by the Italian and then by the German forces, who had their wireless systems installed there, first by the Italian and then by the German forces. The accommodation of the painter and artist Vaggelis Mavrikakis, a student of Fotis Kontoglou and hagiographer of many of the city sanctuaries - like the sanctuary of the patron saint of Sparta, Saint Niconas -, who had been given the permission to use a hotel room as a drawing room, is one of the unique stories of the Hotel. Hotel Cecil constitutes a part of the living history of Sparta; as such, and based both on self-respect and customer-respect, it continues to offer high quality hospitality to visitors.
